Socad Agreement

SOC is a consortium of national associations of universities and about 1,900 institutional members. Since 1984, Strayer University has been a proud institutional member of the SOC. Soc provides university-level educational opportunities for serving members and their families. Active military personnel and their families often travel, making it difficult to complete their studies in an institution. SOC allows the student to obtain a bachelor`s degree in a participatory institution, regardless of where he/she is stationed. The institutional members of the SOC consortium are committed to principles and criteria to ensure the provision of quality university programs for military students, their family members, civilian personnel from the Department of Defense (DoD) and coast guard, as well as veterans. SOC is divided into four parts: SOCAD (Army), SOCNAV (Navy), SOCMAR (Marine Corps) and SOCCOAST (Coast Guard). The institutional members of the SOC give most of the full range of associate and bachelor`s degrees, and some act as “home colleges” that allow students to acquire university credits in other schools after prior consultation. Student Agreement: The student agreement is an official assessment of a student`s previous experience and training. This agreement summarizes all the credit courses acquired and describes the specific courses necessary for the conclusion of a degree.

Your home university establishes a SOCAD student contract after spending six credit hours with that college. In return, the agreement serves as a “contract of conclusion” between you and the home university, even after you leave the military. Home College: Members of the service must identify the institution that serves as the home college. This home college develops a student agreement with the member of the service. On March 1, 2019, participating schools will no longer submit student agreement data for service members enrolled to obtain a SOC DNA diploma. At the end of March 2019, the VA set a deadline to remove all references to SOC in school marketing materials. The same date applies to schools to comply with the Memorandum of Understanding, but not the specific agreement of Servicesmembers Opportunity Colleges, which no longer applies after the deadline has expired. The “sharp end of the sword” applies not only to the army in the struggle, but also to progress. Any successful military operation requires trained and qualified soldiers. That`s why the GI Bill, founded in 1944, and the education services and programs that followed were so important to millions of service members. Empowering soldiers to study is of the utmost importance, both for promotion and for the transition to civilian life.

Residency requirements: Universities and socad educational institutions do not require more than 25 percent of a residency course to be completed. This means that during your postsecondar program, you can take courses from your university from anywhere in the world. The SOC`s national office is located in Washington, DC, where it is linked to its 15 sponsoring university associations, the Department of Defense, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. National Guard and Coast Guard, and DANTES.

For more information, see: Learn online: Online courses are possible ways to earn a degree while you are based abroad or outside your home university. You must complete 30 percent of your graduation requirements with your home university if you are enrolled in a fully online course. . . .
